Chakra Meditation

Lie on your back in a dimly lit, comfortable space. A bed is a nice place, but anywhere you can be assured of not being interrupted is good. If it helps you stay focused, put on some light, unobtrusive music, preferably without vocals, or with vocals in a language you don’t speak.

Place each chakra stone at the corresponding chakras, as close to the skin as possible.

Begin to deepen your breath, paying attention to the feel of air moving into your body, your stomach rising and sinking. Pull your attention into the moment, taking note of any areas of tension or thoughts that continue to arise. Refrain from any judgment; acknowledge and allow whatever exists in the moment to exist without trying to force a change.

When you feel grounded in the moment, bring your attention to the base of your spine. Envision a swirling orb of red, rooting you to the earth. With each inhale, allow the orb to brighten, and with each exhale allow the orb to enlarge slightly. Repeat the mantra “I Am”, connecting to your physical body and the surface beneath you. Connect to a feeling of being supported.

When you feel ready, envision the energy from your root chakra traveling up a clear energetic channel in your spine, activating the sacral chakra in your pelvic bowl. Envision and orange, swirling energy, and begin to connect with the feeling of creative impetus. Again, allow the energy to brighten with your inhale, and expand with each exhale. Repeat the mantra “I Feel”.

In time, bring the energy up to your solar plexus chakra, at the base of your sternum. Allow a vision of a yellow, swirling orb to blossom from this point, brightening with each inhale, expanding on your exhale. Connect to a sense of self-confidence and inner power, while repeating the mantra “I Do”.

Next, allow the energy to travel up to your heart chakra, in the center of your chest. Envision this center as a swirling green orb, radiating healing light throughout your body. Tap in to to a feeling of connectedness with the Universe, and with yourself, summoning a sense of loving-kindness as you allow this energy to brighten and expand. Repeat the mantra “I Love”. Stay here as long as needed; this is an incredibly cleansing and nourishing energy to bathe in.

When you’re ready, bring the energy into your throat chakra, in the center of your throat. Allow a crystalline blue light to form and grow around this center, brightening on your inhale, and expanding as you exhale. Bring into your being a sense of truth and an ability to communicate your truth without fear. Allow this feeling to loosen any tightness you may be experiencing in your throat as you repeat the mantra “I Speak”.

Now, allow the energy to rise up your neck, up over the back of your skull, over the top of your head, and then to drop down into a space about an inch behind where the bridge of your nose and your forehead meet. Press your tongue gently to the roof of your mouth as you envision a deep purple light swirling in this space. Again, allow the light to brighten as you inhale, and expand on your exhale. Connect to a feeling of deep intuition, those moments when you’ve known what you couldn’t know, and have acted upon it. Repeat the mantra “I See”.

When you’re ready, allow that energy to swirl up and back over your head, coming to your crown. Envision an orb of deepest indigo or sparkling white, whichever feels right, moving just over your head and extending out into the Universal Center. Take a moment to check in with your root chakra, still connecting you to the earth. You are now, and always have been, tapped in to the dynamic energies of earth and sky. Allow a feeling comfort and stillness to hold you, as you repeat the mantra “I Understand”.

Continue to breathe here for as long as feels good. When you’re ready to come back, return slowly and mindfully. Before opening your eyes, take a moment to thank yourself for investing this time in your well being and connectivity. When you’re ready, gently blink your eyes open, and move forward into your day.
